2019 KIA K900 Release Date, Specs – The Kia K900 was launched in 2012 as the most luxurious flagship sedan in the company’s history. Designed to replace the Amanti, a four-door that was moderately successful in the US, the Kia K900 has brought its goal to provide a strong competitor for the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. After almost six years in the market, the 2019 KIA K900 has been completely redesigned and introduced into the North American market at the 2018 New York Auto Show.
Presented for the first time in its national market in South Korea, the new 2019 KIA K900 looks much more modern than its predecessor. And although it carries the current design language of the brand, it also has some style characteristics. It seems that Kia wants the 2019 KIA K900 to stand out in the lineup, which is a good strategy in a market where sedans in different segments share too many characteristics. The interior is also a great step forward, with its elegant design and many amenities that put it at odds with the German sedans.
2019 KIA K900 Design
Redesigned on a clean sheet of paper, the new sedan brings together familiar Kia design elements and a host of exclusive features of this model. In the front, you can see the iconic “tiger nose” grill, but in a slightly different way in this model. Wider and taller than any other Kia, it also has a unique mesh with thin horizontal and vertical wires, but at the same time curve. The outgoing model has a mesh honeycomb, while the Cadenza has vertical slats. This new grille gives the KIA K900 a more exclusive look and distinguishes it from the lineup.
The headlights have also been redesigned. While the outgoing model lamps are similar to those of other Kia sedans, the new four-door model has smaller headlights. The reduction was a bit necessary considering the extremely wild grill, but Kia also chose to keep things simple and elegant because the lamps do not extend too much on the wings. They also have a unique LED design, with two U-shaped bands that seem to float under the main lights. The bumper section is clean and simple and includes a three-part intake configuration that keeps the front clean and sleek.
A lot has also changed on the sides. The design is now cleaner and the waist has moved over the door handles. This eliminates the KIA K900 from the old cliché of the design car and gives it a unique look among German sedans. Kia also removed the vents on the front fenders and redesigned the chrome trim on the side skirts, which now become narrower backward. There is also a redesigned window offset with a sportier design due to the more angular edge on the D-pillar. The latter is also shorter, which gives the new 2019 KIA K900 a slightly longer boot lid. But the four-door retains much of the fastback design of its predecessor. The sedan rolls on new 19-inch wheels.
2019 KIA K900 Interior
The interior of the 2019 KIA K900 seems wider now, which also makes it more spacious. The design is minimalist and elegant, complemented by metal accessories and veneers. You can choose from four selections of open pore matte wood, including walnut, brown olive ash, beige olive ash and engineered wood. Soft leather can be seen on most surfaces, with options such as Black, Beige, Espresso Brown or the seductive two-tone Sienna Brown.
The high-end seats are also wrapped in leather and have padded shoulders. It is also heated and ventilated, the driver’s seat is available as an option with a 20-way adjustment, width adjustment cross-arms and lumbar support with pneumatic cells and shoulder adjustments. At the rear, the driver’s seat and passenger seat offer 12-way and 14-way configurations, as well as tilt capabilities, adjustable height headrests and up/down cushions, respectively. The instrument panel is elegant and ergonomic and comes with an analog clock specially designed with the shared brand of Maurice Lacroix. I guess Kia was inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but there’s nothing wrong with that since many other premium car manufacturers add analog watches to their cars. Beneath the hood of the new 2019 KIA K900 is a V6 engine with a double turbocharger of 3.3 liters. The unit is identical to the Stinger model and has a power of 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. That’s an increase of 69 horsepower and 119 lb/ft over the previous model with a 3.3-liter V-6. The engine features a dual variable valve timer (CVVT), a larger radiator for more efficient cooling and airflow, and a 600-watt electric fan motor.
The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic transmission built internally with a Shift-by-Wire gear selector, while optimum maneuverability, stability, and agility are guaranteed by a Vectoring Torque dynamic total traction control system. The unit has rear polarization and electronic control and freely distributes the torque between the front and rear wheels and from one side to the other. Up to 50% of the torque can be distributed to the front wheels, and in Sports mode, up to 80% of the power can be directed to the rear wheels.
Release date and price
Price information in the United States is not yet available, but it is safe to assume that the new 2019 KIA K900 will cost a little more than the outgoing model. With the old K900 priced at $ 49,900, the new generation sedan could cost around $ 54,000. If Kia also introduced a V-8 model, it could cost around $ 64,000 before the options.
